Wine can get expensive, especially when dinning out. A great trend that I have started to notice is half-priced bottle night at local restaurants. This is a great opportunity to go out, experience some good food and pair it with a bottle that you usually would skip over based on price. $80 bucks seems steep, but $40...pop the cork and pour me a glass! Tonight, I met up with some friends at a great local eatery that has 1/2 priced night (Latah Bistro, for those wondering, and I do eat at other restaurants for you three blog readers). We had a great time tasting through some Italian Sangiovese, and because it was half-priced night, we bought one high-priced bottle and one mid-priced bottle and compared the two.
So next time you are not looking forward to the start of the week, grab some friends, find a 1/2 priced bottle night, and choose a theme. Life is fun when you do not have to cook, clean, and can share some good food (I suggest everybody focus on the appetizer menu, so the food as well as the wine can be shared) wine.
