Just got back from a nice little five day vacation. Forgot my camera, but lucky for me, I found a video of some guy who went to the same exact places I just went too.

Almost...
Today was the first "Brown Bag Lunch with the Winemaker" and I almost had the most incredible beginning. When Terra and I showed up at the vineyard for set-up, guess who was waiting at the front gate? THE BIG HORNS! I mean, come on, how cool would I have looked if when the guest for the event showed up and I could have casually pointed over my shoulder and said "and over here are the vineyard big horns." But, as T and I set up, the rams casually grazed past and thirty minutes later when the first person showed up...nadda, zip, zilch, zero. For the next four hours, my head was on a swivel looking, but to no avail. As for the lunch, well, thank-you to those who came, I hope you had a great time, and for those who did not, the afternoon started with some wine and, well, you will have to come to the next to find out more.

Huckleberry's this Saturday
I will be with Drew (the best wine steward in the World) this Saturday from 2-4 pm at the Huckleberry's on Monroe in Spokane. Stop by and sample the newest Pieces of Red, and all the other current releases. Hope to see you there, Michael.
Thanks to all for braving the weather
Hey everybody, at least the two of you who read this blog. I want to thank everyone who braved the weather to come out for our barrel tasting last Saturday. Usually the weather is a little cold during our October pre-barrel tasting, but late April...snow! You have got to be kidding me. Oh well, over 350 people still showed up, I got to see a lot of familiar faces, and meet some new ones. Hope all of you had a good time.

Yep, that is right, earlier this month, we sent the last of Pieces of Red v2.03 off to a wonderful family, where I know, it will be treated right. This Saturday we are releasing Pieces of Red v.3.04. Those who have tasted it have called it the best yet.

Life in the vineyard
It is now April, the last day of March it snowed/rained in the vineyard. I was pruning, it was cold. It is now a new month, I am pruning...still. What happened to March coming in like a lion and out like a lamb? Would it be sardonic if a movie screening of an "Inconvenient Truth" got snowed out in the spring? Just one of the many thoughts I have while pruning. 26,000 vines. As Chevy Chase said "and we pruned the hedges of many small villages!" Of course, I always change out one word in the quote. Not much to do while pruning but prune. I have thought of a thousand, literally a thousand cool blog post while pruning, why have you not seen them? Because I forget them while PRUNING! This weekend I have escaped from pruning for Taste Washington Seattle, a 6 hour feast of wine and food. Yeah! Then it is back to pruning, Yeah!
P.S. When I was young, I disliked pruning, but know, with a good book on the Ipod, nice weather, it is actually a pretty relaxing project.
